Overprotection vs. Neglect: Where the Real Balance Lies
Raising children is, in part, learning to live with a constant contradiction.
You want to protect them from everything. But you also want them to learn how to navigate life on their own.
You want to know they’re okay. But you also don’t want them to depend on you forever just to feel safe.
And somewhere between those two impulses — caring too much or letting go too much — is where many parents spend their days making small decisions that, together, carry quite a lot of weight.
There’s no perfect formula. And there probably never will be.
But there is one very common feeling: not knowing whether you’re protecting your child… or controlling too much.
